Your body remembers what your mind tries to forget.
The knot in your stomach, the tension in your throat, the tightness in your chest—these aren't just physical sensations. They're messages from your nervous system, stories held deep within your tissues, unprocessed experiences waiting to be heard.
If you've spent years trying to think your way out of anxiety, depression, or trauma, only to find yourself stuck in the same patterns, you're not alone. Sometimes our deepest wounds aren't held in our thoughts—they're held in our bodies.
Traditional talk therapy has its place, but when words aren't enough, we need to go deeper. We need to listen to what the body is trying to tell us.
Healing Through the Body
As a therapist trained in Somatic Experiencing™ and a certified yoga instructor, I bring a unique understanding of the mind-body connection to our work together. Somatic therapy recognizes that trauma, stress, and emotional pain aren't just psychological—they live in our nervous systems, our muscles, our breath.
My approach helps you:
Tune into your body's wisdom rather than override or ignore it
Release stored tension and trauma that talk therapy alone cannot reach
Regulate your nervous system to move from survival mode to a place of safety and presence
Reconnect with physical sensations in a gentle, non-threatening way
Build body awareness that supports emotional healing and resilience
Understand your body's stress responses and learn to work with them rather than against them
This isn't about pushing through or powering past your discomfort. It's about slowing down, paying attention, and creating space for your body to complete what it needs to heal. Through gentle guided attention, breathwork, mindful movement principles from yoga, and somatic tracking, we'll help your nervous system find its way back to balance.
What Somatic Work Looks Like
You won't be asked to relive traumatic experiences or push yourself beyond your window of tolerance. Instead, we work at a pace that feels safe and manageable for your system. We might notice sensations, track movements, explore breath patterns, or use gentle body-based interventions to help discharge stuck energy and restore regulation. You may want to move your body or you may want to remain seated. You are always in charge.
This approach is especially powerful for those who:
Feel disconnected from their bodies
Experience chronic tension, pain, or unexplained physical symptoms
Have tried traditional therapy but still feel stuck
Struggle with anxiety that lives in the body
Are healing from trauma or overwhelming life experiences
Don't remember their trauma but have a feeling that something is "not right" or "unsafe"
Experienced attachment trauma or C-PTSD that can't be pinned down to one instance
Want to develop a more compassionate relationship with their physical self
Your body isn't the enemy. It's been trying to protect you, to keep you safe, to help you survive. Together, we'll help it learn that it's okay to relax, to let go, to trust again.
Healing doesn't have to be all in your head. Sometimes the path forward is through the wisdom that's been waiting in your body all along.
